Tyler Brule is editor in chief of Monocle Magazine and has a column with the title ‘The Fast Lane’ in the FT. The following is an extract from his column.
“… too much long-haul travel and a fondness for White Christmases put a stop to the Australian phase a few years ago’.Now I look forward to being in the mountains with everything I need either within arm’s reach of the sofa or, at most, a five-minute walk away.
The arrival drill up in St. Moritz is usually the same: a speedy walk from the station to the flat, where bags are dropped and we dash down to the supermarket to fill the fridge and debate over which is the most handsome and fragrant tree.
Back at the flat, my mom will find decorations and I’ll work on the Christmas soundtrack. Then the Kitchen will come to life as mom figures out what needs to be baked and Mats works out a breakfast/lunch/dinner strategy for the next few weeks. While I start rearranging the coffee table with reading matter for those mornings and afternoons that won’t be spent on the slope, my mom decorates the tree and I’ll either make coffee or suggest a round of champagne.
p.s For long time I thought that his column is a parody but it’s really ‘what you see is what you get’ 🙂
p.s This is a lifestyle guru for you 😉
